- ** Hello and welcome to the Yes Discography. I have been putting this collection of recorded
- material by the various members of Yes together since the fall of 1990. This project was
- originally started for the electronic Yes newsletter, "Notes From the Edge." It has grown from a
- two page list of
- into what you have now - an incomplete but more or less comprehensive listing of Yes and Yes
- related recordings.
- I have tried to include every recorded work every member of Yes has appeared on. This
- includes all Yes albums, groups that members of Yes were and are currently in, and guest
- appearances by members of Yes. Just to clarify who we are talking about, I defined a member
- of Yes as an individual who has appeared on a Yes album as a band member. So far, there
- have been twelve:
- Jon Anderson: vocalist Peter Banks: guitarist
- Bill Bruford: drummer Geoff Downes: keyboardist
- Trevor Horn: vocalist Steve Howe: guitarist
- Tony Kaye: keyboardist Patrick Moraz: keyboardist
- Trevor Rabin: guitarist Chris Squire: bassist
- Rick Wakeman: keyboardist Alan White: drummer
- There are several musicians who have been "almost" a member of Yes, or just closely
- associated with the band. Vangelis was almost hired as keyboardist in 1974 and 1983. Eddie
- Jobson appeared on keyboards in the "Owner of a Lonely Heart" video but never officially
- joined the band. Tony Levin played on the Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe album and
- tour, and on "Union," but was never a member of Yes. John Wetton has played with several
- members in other bands and it was rumored that he would join ABWH on stage as their
- bassist, but this didn't happen. The same goes for Jeff Berlin, who did sit in for Tony Levin
- on bass for one ABWH show. All these people have legitimate claims for being included in
- the Yes Discography, but since they were never "official" members, I have decided to exclude
- them (besides, this thing is long enough as it is!)
- I've tried to make this easy to read. As you look through it, you'll find it self explanatory.
- The only thing that might give you trouble is
- deciphering catalog numbers. Under the heading "RELEASE INFO" I've put all the release
- information I could find, including medium, country of release, label, and the catalog number. I've
- used several abbreviations along the way, and combined them into a unique format which is
- consistent throughout the discography. This format is:
- <release date> <medium> <country of release> <record label> <catalog #>
- The abbreviations for medium are:
- CD - compact disc LP - record album,
- CA - cassette CS - CD single
- CE - cassingle 45 - 7"
- single
- 12 - 12" single
- And the abbreviations for country are:
- US - United States UK - Great Britian
- JP - Japan FR - France
- CA - Canada
- So, when you see:
- 1983 CD US Relativity 892 304-2
- you know that the album is released on compact disc in 1983 in the US by Relativity with the
- catalog number of 892 304-2. Like wise, when you see:
- 6/1/71 45 UK Parlophone 1243
- you know that you are looking at a 7" single (45 RPM) released on June 1st, 1971 in the UK by
- Parlophone. I know that many people from other countries prefer the date in the day/month
- format, not the month/day format that I have used throughout the discography. I've stuck with
- the month/day for the simple reason that it is what I'm most familiar with.
- You'll notice that most releases only list the US catalog info. That's because I live in the US and
- international pressings are difficult to find here. I apologize for the unintended ethnocentrism - I
- am actively seeking release information from other countries. If you can provide some, write me!
- I could go on forever thanking the people who helped me put this together, with addition,
- suggestions, advice and criticism, but for now I'll just list a few names:
- Cathy Leak, Dave Markfield, Jeff Hunnicutt, Dave Datta, Glynne MacDonald, Mike
- Maddock, Dave White, Ray Peck, Rick Meyer, Perry Harding, Graham Stead, and
- David Halm have all contributed. Sorry
- if I forgot to mention anyone!
- If you have any addition to the discography, by all means drop me a line! It doesn't have to be
- major; even a date correction or a single catalog number helps. As far as I know, all the
- information is correct, but it wouldn't surprise me if I've made a few typos along the way! Also,
- information that I'm not sure about is followed by two question marks (??), and there still are
- several albums that I couldn't get track listings for, so if you could help out in any way please
- do!
- Feel free to contact me at:

- or via internet at:
- borella@toadflax.cs.ucdavis.edu
- or
- borella@seq.uncwil.edu
- Oh yeah...at the begining of this file you'll see a copyright thingy. That's there mainly because
- I've put countless hours of research, typing and organizing into this and I don't want anyone
- going and taking the credit! Seriously though - I don't mind you copying this discography far
- and wide on the net, distributing it virtually in text files, or making hard copies. But I would
- like to remain the sole author/compiler of this work. Perhaps
- someday, I might look into getting it published, or at least getting it made into an "official"
- Yes Discography. Until then, please abide by my wishes.
- Enjoy!
